So i'm getting my knee fixed on tuesday. I'm torn between relief and anxiety. My grandma was in and out of the hospital this week, and I'm going to a funeral of a family friend tomorrow. This is not the best summer. But tonight i'm going out with my sweet, very old friend Devon, and we'll see some good art and some fashionable people that will probably distract me for a while.
I realize i'm a very lucky girl in a lot of important ways, so I'm not going to take the good stuff for granted.

So I'm writing this because if I read one more research paper on illiteracy I might just become illiterate myself. Was that an insensitive comment? I think it probably was. Edit: If I read one more paper, my head will explode.
Anyway, I just got several bits of good news, the most important being that I may not have to have knee surgery, depending on how this physical therapy program I'm starting on monday goes. That is such (tentatively) good news! I've decided to pretend like it's a sure thing so I can relax, and not think of someone cutting open my knee.
Also, I now have a paid job in addition to my unpaid internship. I'll be back at good old Meier and Frank, which is honestly fine with me. Asking for job apps at every conceivable place got pretty old fast.
This week I've been babysitting my neighbor's kids, Aiden, 4, and Tate, 2. They are way cute, and usually very well behaved. Still, I am more tired than I've been since regionals.
My ipod's click wheel is not working, and unfortunately it's stuck on James Blunt, which I listened to as a guilty pleasure this afternoon and now I'm stuck with him indefinitely. Hello, James. You sing like a girl.

...and probably my only one for a while, because I don't think anything interesting will happen to me in the next 2 or 3 months. But after that, well, that'll be quite a time.
